WDDO Certified

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from property owners and managers across East Tennessee.

What is WDDO certification?

WDDO stands for the World Detector Dog Organization. It is the gold standard in K9 scent detection certification. WDDO certification requires handler-dog teams to pass rigorous double-blind testing where neither the handler nor the evaluator knows the location of hidden samples. This ensures results are objective and verifiable. You can verify our certification at wddo.org.

How accurate is K9 bed bug detection?

Properly trained and certified K9 detection teams are significantly more accurate than visual inspections alone. Dogs can detect bed bugs in all life stages, including eggs, and can locate infestations hidden behind walls, under floors, and in furniture that would be impossible to find visually. Our WDDO certification ensures our dogs meet the highest standards of detection accuracy. See more on how K9 detection compares to a visual inspection.

Why don't you offer treatment services?

We are detection-only by design. When a company offers both detection and treatment, there is a financial incentive to find problems that may not exist. By focusing exclusively on detection, we provide objective, trustworthy results with no conflict of interest. You can trust that our findings are honest and accurate.

What areas do you serve?

We serve all of East Tennessee, including the Smoky Mountains tourism corridor, Knoxville, Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and all surrounding metro areas. Whether you have a single cabin or manage a large portfolio of properties across the region, we've got you covered. See our service areas.

How long does an inspection take?

Inspection time varies by property size and type. A typical single room or unit takes approximately 2 to 5 minutes. Larger properties or multi-unit buildings take proportionally longer. Our K9 teams work efficiently and discreetly, minimizing disruption to your guests or tenants.

What happens if bed bugs are found?

If our K9 team detects bed bugs, you'll receive a detailed report outlining the specific locations and extent of the findings. We provide clear recommendations for next steps and can refer you to trusted pest control professionals for treatment. After treatment is complete, we offer post-treatment re-inspections to verify the treatment was effective.

Do you offer emergency inspections?

Yes. We understand that bed bug situations can be urgent, especially for hospitality and STR properties where guest complaints require immediate attention. We offer same-day and next-day emergency response for urgent situations. Contact us directly and we'll do our best to get a team to your property as quickly as possible.

Do you offer custom inspection packages?

Every property is different, so we build custom inspection plans around your specific needs. Whether you need routine quarterly coverage for a portfolio of cabins, a one-time sweep of an apartment complex, or emergency response after a guest complaint, we'll put together a package that fits your property, schedule, and budget.
